The finished premium children’s books are what readers experience. ONAS™ is the language engineering behind them.
Michael J. Armstrong Jr #TOGM created and formally codified ONAS™ to bring precision to how he constructs developmental narratives. He approaches language as code: the words have a function, and their arrangement determines how the narrative unfolds. Rhythm and sequencing are built into the manuscript from the beginning.
By removing abstract concepts from his narratives, Michael aims to reduce the processing load children encounter during storytime. This is central to cognitive ease: children can follow what is happening without having to interpret abstract ideas along the way. His purpose is to turn a reading experience associated with frustration and difficulty into one of joy and pleasure.
That purpose shapes his attention to coherence and high fidelity throughout each manuscript. His study of neuroplasticity informs the importance he places on children’s reading experiences during their formative years.
ONAS™ provides the overall architecture. DLP™—Deterministic Linguistic Programming—is Michael’s language-design method within it. Each book retains its own subject and reading experience under that shared standard.
Michael originated ONAS™ as part of his creator-owned Human Developmental Media ecosystem. The framework connects his premium children’s books with the purpose behind their accompanying Bingo&Dingo!™ media.
